Life is about balance, sometimes we look for comfort food to fill that nostalgic space in our hearts, and sometimes we’re looking for a little more technical flair and sophistication to titillate our taste buds. To celebrate their 5th anniversary, About Eatery have stuck to their roots but are also looking to the future, with a brand new modern trattoria concept. While the restaurant stays true to their original philosophy of using seasonal, locally grown, organic and sustainable products with an emphasis of fresh homemade pasta, the modern trattoria menu will now consist of creative dishes, which showcase all that we love about homely Italian cuisine but with a modern outlook. This “New Era” approach is thanks to new About Eatery and Culinary Director, Lorenzo Rosso and partners who thought, after 5 years and surviving the tribulations of COVID-19, it was time to start fresh and renewed.

“We have paired down the menu, as we would like to focus on simple dishes that are made with a careful technique,” said Chef Lorenzo Rosso, About Eatery’s new partner and culinary director. This new concept allows changes in the menu, giving the team freedom to highlight fresh seasonal ingredients along with the chef’s creativity so foodies will have new experiences with every visit.

The warm and inviting, trattoria atmosphere of the restaurant now houses 2 new specialty corners including a new fresh pasta corner, ‘About Pasta’ and a devoted cold cut and cheese corner, ‘About Charcuterie’. Foodies will be able to witness selected pastas made daily by hand. Some of the pastas are unique to About Eatery’s line-up and never before seen in Bangkok. “We want to introduce never-seen pasta shapes to Bangkok’s diners, we will not stick to the same type of pasta, we change the menu quite often so you can always experience something new,” said Chef Lorenzo.

Take the Bigoli pasta for example, this special type of thick pasta is crafted with a special clamp-like device called ‘Bigolaro’, an ancient pasta-making machine from Venice where the chef has to hand crank the pasta out of the pressing machine. This fresh pasta is then incorporated into one of their menu, the Bigoli Bottarga, a combination of Rock Lobster, Grey Mullet Roe, Cherry Tomato, Chilli, Garlic and Parsley. Pastas and sauces are in rotation and there will always be a new combination of pairing to surprise and delight foodies!

Cold-cut and cheese lovers will be blown away by their large selections at ‘About Charcuterie’ corner. From Spicy Salami to Mortadella and high quality cheeses, foodies can select between 3 different sizes; 60 CM, 80 CM and 100 CM to share. Meat lovers will enjoy some of the more hearty dishes such as Lamb Chops which comes with Scottadito, Ratatouille, Roast Potatoes and Herb Emulsion. Seafood options included mouth-watering appetisers such as Fried Crab Cake along with main such as Rock Salt Grilled Wild Cod Fish Fillet. Finish off this comforting trattoria style meal with homemade desserts from classic Italian Tiramisu or Panna Cotta.

No Italian meal would be complete without a glass, or a bottle of wine. About Eatery’s natural, organic and biodynamic wine selection is one of the most expansive collections you can find in the market including more than 20 selections of Orange Wine. Just let About Eatery’s restaurant manager and sommelier, Giulio Saverino know what flavour profile of wine you prefer, and he would be more than happy to arrange a memorable selection for your trattoria experience.

About Eatery’s new modern trattoria menu concept is perfect from day and night and to share with anyone, watch out for their new lunch special line up along with exclusive event ‘About Seasonal’ series which focus on local seasonal ingredients and their Orange Wine Festival.
