Theo Mio at InterContinental Bangkok

Bangkok Foodies Review – Theo Mio

Chef Theo is likely one of most friendly and charming British chefs I’ve had the pleasure to ‘dine’ with in Bangkok. Theo’s cooking class was fun and informative. He even got down on his hands and knees several times to correct the electrical plug situation, which tells me Theo ain’t no Michelin star brat, and his homemade pasta and pesto are proof of his Michelin accolades. I noticed him sporting some bad ass Crocs footwear! Something I thought inhumanely possible.

Theo Mio is located at the lobby of the InterContinental Bangkok hotel, where the atmosphere  is bright and appropriately pretentious. With a full view of the kitchen, and also of Sukhumvit Road opposite, it’s class and comfort rolled into one. I’m a little dubious about the fake foliage which over shadows the room but I guess the bulbs conceptualized as lemons adds a strangely unique charm.

The pizza was delicious (thank God) but there was a bit of disparity with the sauce and it’s distribution, leaving some parts bland and others too spicy. I really enjoyed the freshness of the watermelon salad despite the massive chunks of cucumber. Contrary to popular belief, my mouth is big but not that big. But it was really the pasta dishes  where tastiness was most concentrated. The Ravioli and the fettuccine sent us to war over the sharing bowls, but I managed to devour a healthy portion.

I think my press compatriots forgot the #bangkokfoodies they were dealing with. We had a good time. Most ideal for a business brunch or a long dinner with plenty of wine and of course, foodies friends are a must!
