Wet Bangkok Opens in Soi Langsuan in the Same Street as Gaa and Gaggan

Remember that time we announced that GAGGAN & HIS SOMM ARE OPENING A BAR NEXT DOOR? Well that was one year ago, but now the wait is finally over.

According to Vladimir Kojic’s Instagram Post, Wet Bangkok (#getwetbkk) officially opened its doors on the13th February, as planned on Kojic’s birthday. Positioned as side-by-side neighbours to the stupendously famous Gaggan Restaurant, What was once arun-down massage parlour has been converted to a budget-friendly, biodynamic and new-world-wine inclined bar.

Wet Bangkok is Kojic’s dream project, which he explains in his post: “2 years ago @gaggan_anand ask me what is my dream. I told him I want to open a wine bar, that is not having set rules that somebody made, that I want to have a bar that we will do what we like…. after 5 minutes he said why we don’t do it together” . The post goes on to further imply there will indeed be food and “crazy” designs created by @gunnnlee.

According to the teaser images posted on the Wet Bangkok Facebook location page, the interior has that rustic Swiss Chalet kind of feel, with thick wooden beams across the ceiling, mismatched retro furniture illuminated by thrifty tealight candles on the low wooden table. Kojic is making a point of including affordable bottles in his cellar, a strategic move to attract a more of a laid-back ( pre- or after-party) crowd. We certainly aren’t complaining.

So that clocks-up three Gaggan partnered institutions in this tiny sub soi in Langsuan; Gaggan (2* Michelin/Asia’s 50 Best Winner for four years running, due to close next year), Gaa (Michelin 1* 2019) and now Wet Bangkok. Only time will tell if Bangkokians embrace the newest neighbours with the same kudos and enthusiasm.
