Free-flow ‘buffet’ in an a la carte format isn’t particularly a new initiative but since the pandemic created a reform between self-serving food and people-to-people contact, a new precedent has been set for hotel buffets and brunches. Yet, not many prior to the pandemic have done a fantastic job at it, nor managed to transition smoothly after the height of the pandemic. ALATi at The Siam Kempinski however, seem close to mastering it.

Every Sunday, ALATi located on the ground floor of Siam Kempinski Bangkok on Rama I Road, presents the Riviera Sunday Brunch. An all-you-can eat a la carte concept with the works. The menu is created by Executive Chef, Carlo Valenziano and is inspired by countries sharing the Medierraean Sea. Expect the flavours of Spain, Morocco, France, Italy, Greece, Turkey  and Lebanon to be present.

The decor is casually refined with a warm and welcoming ambience, and the blue cushioned seating is especially comfortable. Request a seat by the window and look out onto the aqua-tiled pool or even on the patio to get closer to that Riviera experience.

The Riviera Brunch works by bringing diners an unlimited order of à la carte dishes which range from Tuna Carpaccio to Onsen Egg on a Crab Remoulade, Cheese and Charcuterie Platters to mains dishes such as the Truffle Gnudi (Truffle & Ricotta Dumplings, Truffle Tapenade), Wagyu Beef Medallion, Duck Leg Confit and Murray Land Lamb Cutlet.

All beautifully cooked with tender loving care, it’s hard to believe that they all come at one price and one can order whatever they like at whim. Not mentioning you barely have to lift a finger. Just like fine dining restaurants, ALATi offers full (white-gloved) table service, the staff are most attentive and diligent. Sometimes their willingness to please could be overzealous.

Needless to say, this Sunday Brunch caters to seafood lovers, one of the most exciting components of this Riviera Sunday Brunch deal is the complimentary Welcome Seafood platter! Something many of you may be missing from the European beachside bistros.

This impressive seafood selection on ice comprises of Canadian lobster,  snow crab, poached prawns, black mussels and aphrodisiac oysters. The second course sees a classic lobster  bisque with lightly whipped cream, served individually at each table.

Fair warning! Brunchers must leave room for dessert. A well-travelled Italian Chef is at the helm, meaning (for us), there was no questioning what’s for desert. The ‘Alati Tiramisu’ delivered on all points of flavour and modern flair. But there is a long list of desserts to salivate over and a live dessert station for those young or young at heart, looking for sweet endings.

But wait! There is, indeed more. Throughout the dining session, trolleys of succulent meat and rich, cheesy pastas will be rolled around to each table with young chefs doling out juicy slices of Roasted Lamb Leg or composing Sausage and Mushroom Pasta in a Parmesan Wheel, with quantities according to your exact desires. More cheese please!

This Sunday Brunch is truly a slice of indulgent Riviera-esque heaven and at a price which is way below it’s worth in our opinion. Time to throw away your cares for an early afternoon and make the very most of life’s gastronomical offers. At least while it lasts.
