Phuket Foodies Review Guide: Kata Center

With a motto that teases ‘Come for the FOOD, Stay for the FUN’ Two Chefs Bar & Grill is one of Phuket’s most popular restaurants. Established in 2000, and currently with four branches positioned in the trendy beach neighborhoods of Kata, Karon and Patong, Two Chefs serves up international and local cuisine in a hip, boisterous environment.

Tradition, quality and innovation are the three driving forces behind Two Chef’s kitchen and menu. The restaurant is famous for its delicious international cuisine, authentic Scandinavian specialities and classic Thai dishes. Modern and creative, the food at Two Chefs Bar & Grill is affordable and the atmosphere is really fun.

I recently dropped into Two Chefs Kata Center, and was quite lucky to score a table as the restaurant was packed. Despite being busy, the staff were cheerful and eager to answer the questions I had about the menu and take my drink order.

Two Chefs Kata Center is a really welcoming venue. The two-storey restaurant is contemporary and hip, and serves as a local hot spot for live music as the Two Chefs Band plays every night of the week from 8:00pm until late in the evening. The music serves as a great background soundtrack for the evening.

Dinner arrives and it’s heaping portions of Grilled Herb Chicken and Chicken Enchiladas. The Grilled Herb Chicken is served with various crunchy, fresh veggies and slathered in a black trumpet mushroom sauce. It’s rich and creamy – upscale comfort food at its best. I’m often a skeptic of restaurants which serve Mexican food, but the Chicken Enchilada is a grand take on Tex-Mex. It’s spicy and smoky. The flavors are just right, and to be honest, I’m a bit impressed.

Dessert is Apple Pie A’La Two Chefs with homemade vanilla sauce. The presentation is really lovely with beautiful flowers and splashes of the vanilla sauce, but after snapping a few pics, I dig right in and the taste is divine. The mini apple pie tastes like one a grandmother would make, and it’s a nice end to a very pleasant dinner.

While Two Chefs Kata Center has a well-rounded menu, much like the restaurants other branches, they also offer a wide variety of specials throughout the week. Every Wednesday is ‘All You Can Eat Surf & Turf’ for a mere 545THB. A great value for money, this deal lets you nosh on Grilled Prawns and Australian Rib Eye Steak. There’s an ‘All You Can Eat BBQ’ every Friday which features typical favorites such as pork ribs and coleslaw. However, I highly recommend the very inexpensive ‘All You Can Eat Sunday Roast’ which features Australian Roasted Beef, Pork Loin, Roast Chicken, various veggies, potatoes and Yorkshire Pudding for just 445THB per person.

If you are looking for a simple yet delicious meal in a fun setting, I highly recommend you check out Two Chefs Kata Center. The food is good, the portions are ample and the price is fair – it’s definitely dinner done right!
