Namsu is Soft-Opening on February 4-16th
After the successful launch of Rangoon Tea House in Bangkok, RTH Group is introducing its next big project: Namsu. A modern Shan restaurant, Namsu is the brainchild of Htet Myet Oo and a tribute to the vibrant culinary traditions of Shan State, a region nestled between northeastern Myanmar, Yunnan province, and Thailand. This unique cultural crossroads is home to a cuisine that tells a story of migration, bold flavors, and rich heritage.
Bangkok, Thailand – 28/01/24 – Namsu, one of Bangkok’s most unique dining experiences is set to open on the 2nd floor of Baan Trok Tua Ngork. Celebrating the rich and vibrant flavors of Shan cuisine, Namsu is thrilled to announce its soft opening on 4th – 16th February (Closed only on Mondays).
Shan cuisine, known for its harmonious blend of influences from Myanmar, Thailand, Yunnan (China), and beyond, offers a truly borderless dining experience. At Namsu, guests can savor signature dishes like Kengtung Sausage with Grilled Shan Rosti, Roasted Rice Aom with Snails and Yunnan Porchetta, all crafted with authentic techniques and a playful, modern touch.
“Our group is dedicated to share with the global community the different cuisines and cultures that exist in Burma. And with Namsu, the dishes, the beverage program and the incredible design, this is the best that we have to offer,” says Htet Myet Oo, Co-founder of Namsu and Founder of RTH Group.
Honey Rae Zenang, Chef and Co-Founder of Namsu said, “From my upbringing in Northern Shan state through my career as a chef working in Tokyo, Singapore and now Bangkok, this is an incredibly emotional yet powerful moment for me, especially as a proud Shan.” With one of Bangkok’s largest Sake collections, her lifelong ambition has been to meld Sake with Shan cuisine, with similarities between the two cuisines being so close to home, “even if you look at the style of rice, or the way both cuisines use fermentation, beans and tomatoes, the perfect drink to accompany Shan food has always been Sake to me”.
The design, created by Saran Yen Penya of 56th Studio, who most recently got critical acclaim for creating the furniture and Tuk Tok at the Dior Gold House said, “to me, the design is not only about the aesthetics of Shan state. It speaks to the resilience and the kindness of people throughout Burma, which I find so badass and very rock and roll”.
Join us for our soft opening and be among the first to experience the warmth and hospitality of Shan culture. Namsu will be open from 5pm – 11pm starting 4th – 16th February.
