Lunch at Kampu @movenpickhuahin. A good choice of Thai dishes, not excessively spicy, so ideal for Western palate or Bangkokians wanting a light version with quality ingredients, but it was the desserts that were surprisingly good. Namely the chocolates lava cake, which had a lovely bitter sweetness, the others were tasty if bordering on sugary. Vermicelli hot pot with fresh seafood. Soooo good. The Prawns were thick, juicy and well deveined, the squid also exceptionally fresh. One would hope given we’re right by the sea. This historic Thai House restaurant makes for a more homely and authentic experience than dining on site of the hotel all of the time, even if it is under their patronage. When the weather is fine you can enjoy your dinner on their lawn and they have a pretty good live band playing popular tunes which beautifully compliments the relaxed atmosphere and even a bit of a fun sing-along too. One thing I must say though, a little too much sweetness in every dish prevents this meal from reaching a higher level.
