Nai Lert Phraya Bhakdinoraseth (Lert Sreshthaputra) 22 June 1872 – 15 December 1945 Nai Lert was born with an innovative mind. His father named him “Lert Samantao”, which means “unique and excellent”. As a young man, he was an entrepreneur, a developer, an investor, and a philanthropist. Throughout his life, he was passionate about preserving the culture and traditions of the Kingdom of Siam. King Rama VI held Nai Lert in such high esteem, he bestowed upon him the honor of “Beloved Millionaire”, Phraya Bhakdinoraseth in 1925. Nai Lert was at the forefront of introducing the first Ice Factory to the country; the tallest commercial building in 1927; importing motor vehicles from Europe and the US; initiating the first bus transportation for the city’s capital to name but a few. It was at the end of World War II Nai Lert passed away on December 15, 1945, leaving his business empire to his beloved wife, Khunying Sinn (Thevit) and his only descendent, his daughter, Thanpuying Lursakdi Sampatisiri. Nai Lert’s principles of life have been passed down through the family according to the symbolic Nai Lert logo: Lon loving-kindness, compassion, sympathy, and freedom, which lives on to this day.
