LIU at Conrad Bangkok

Bangkok Foodies Review – Liu

FOOT IN MOUTH DIM SUM
Have you ever tried black chicken feet soup? Or inside-out spring roll? Or braised ducks feet?
In spite of all my foodies reviews, I’ve only skimmed the surface of Chinese restaurants. So I jumped at the opportunity to try Liu at Conrad Hotel, with their current special – 950 THB Nett Unlimited Dim Sum Lunch!

The interior is what you expect from a Dim Sum house – red and wood with the exception of dudes running around in cheesy kung-fu outfits, which added a fun touch. Asides from the usual dumpling suspects which were excellent but not amazing, there was the inside-out spring roll, with the squishy part on the outside and the crunchy thin on the inside., It promised nothing  aesthetically but was in fact – delicious! The soft shell crab was also a winner. I could have had numerous servings.

The chicken feet were a sight for sore eyes, too, And just the remedy for my persistent flu. I wouldn’t recommend eating the bland ,gristly chicken, however, just the broth. The webbed ducks feet you could probably forgo altogether. It was just downright funky, but that was just the tip of the iceberg. Their selection is wide and their servings are generous. The size of the dim sums are enormous and the prawns are fat and juicy and still intact, not a mushy mesh like so many dim sum joints.

Definitely for the price, and as long as it lasts, you should try it out. Good excuse for a nice long executive lunch, and maybe even a lunch date of footsies.
