Be the first 50 in queue at the Grand Opening of Carl’s Jr. Burger Sukhumvit 22 this July 6th from 11am to 1pm and get a free Carl’s Jr. voucher booklet.

Carl’s Jr. might be nothing new to Bangkok, with four outlets and one more on the way this year in Sukhumvit soi 11. But when they announced they are giving away 50 voucher booklet for a burger (every week) for a year, we feel it is an obligation to share with the foodies, no matter what your level of burger snobbery may be. Carl’s Jr., will also offer free food for those queuing between the Grand Opening day period.

Bangkok foodies team tried for the first time, and although some of the classics were stock-standard, their Chicken Tenders (which come piping hot), Crisscut Fries with 3 types of dips, signature Chili Fries and the promotional Nacho Burger were pretty badass for an American burger chain restaurant.

Funnily enough they provide some table service which takes some getting used to in a fast food joint, but a welcoming luxury we wouldn’t refuse. We also liked was the fact that one could order a mini size burger starting from 59 THB or switch to low carb (lettuce wrapped) and refill soft drink and ice tea are a standard offer that you can choose to add or forgo your own plastic cap or straws at the refilling station.

We interviewed Suhaimi Abdul Manaf, the Sr. Director International Franchise Operations, and asked him, in preparation of the Grand Opening Day, what customers are to expect and what’s in store for the brand and expansion of the Carl’s Jr. menu.

NAME: Suhaimi Abdul Manaf
POSITION: Sr. Director International Franchise Operations

BKF: Can you tell us a bit about what you planned for the big day?

Suhaimi: We are thrilled to expand Carl’s Jr. into the Sukhumvit district, therefore, we have planned a series of exciting activities to celebrate the moment with the community.

The first 50 guests to visit the Soi Sukhumvit 22 restaurant on grand opening day, July 6th, 2018, will receive a voucher book for free burgers for a year!  51-150 customers will also get attractive free offers, and all guests attending the event will experience the best quality burgers and sides.

Thai celebrity, Kritsanapoom “JJ” Piboonsongkram, famous for many roles including leads in ‘I hate you, I love you’, ‘Diary of Tootsies’ and ‘Dang Ni Dap’ will officially open the restaurant by cutting the red ribbon and will be happy to take photographs with his fans as they enjoy the Carl’s Jr. burgers together.

BKF: What’s the prime difference between Carl’s Jr. and other fast food brands?

Suhaimi: We offer “made fresh to order” products, partial table service, all you can drink beverages (free, unlimited refills). We are proud to be different from our competitors based on premium quality, service which includes table service, and innovative menu offerings – we have the most diversified menu compared to our competitors, like the Portobello Mushroom Burger, Western Bacon Cheeseburger®, Jalapeno Burger, Teriyaki Burger, Hand-breaded Tenders Sandwich™, Hand-scooped Real Ice Cream Shakes. Real fruit smoothies and we intend to add crispy chicken to the menu in July.

BKF: What’s new for this Sukhumvit 22 outlet?

Suhaimi: The new Carl’s Jr. restaurant, located on Soi Sukhumvit 22, will introduce the taste of California to a young energetic population of consumers. The new restaurant features the contemporary “urban” style design which is a perfect demonstration of modern, lively brand personality of Carl’s Jr.

BKF: Do you plan to adapt to the market and make “ Thai-centric” menu items?

Suhaimi: Carl’s Jr. put an emphasis on meeting the local needs and taste profile of local markets.  We will launch the hand-breaded fresh-made fried chicken legs and wings in July. In the future, we will launch delicious pork burgers and other tailormade burgers to appeal to local Thai needs. We’ve recently introduced a new line of smaller-sized lower-priced (starting from only 59 THB), chargrilled burgers that we know our customers will also love.

BKF: What made you believe with all the successful burger houses, Carl’s Jr. could penetrate the market?

Suhaimi: Quality food is the foundation of our brand. We differentiate ourselves from the competition by offering premium, best-in-class products that taste better than our competitors but at a fast food price, for example, 100% high quality imported beef, hand breaded chicken tenders and hand-scooped real ice cream shakes, etc.

At the same time, we noticed the raising health concerns on the fast food market. And that’s why Carl’s Jr. has been offering better-for-you options on the menu for several years to provide our consumers a diversified choice that fits their lifestyles.

We offer a selection of Alternate Menu Options that allow guests to customize their meals.  Customers can choose from: Veg It (lose the meat, keep the fresh options), Trim It (featuring low calorie / low fat options), Low Carb It (lose the bun for a lettuce wrap)

BKF: And how about delivery options?

Suhaimi: We see a high speed of growth in the food delivery market in Thailand, and that is why we have a close cooperation with key delivery partners such as foodpanda. In the future, we are planning to strengthen our relationships with other key delivery vendors to provide convenience and quality food experience for the local customers at home.
