EXTRAORDINARY FOOD CARVINGS TOO GOOD TO EAT

Fruit carving ( แกะสลัก, แกะสลักผลไม้ ) is an ancient Thai art form which was originally a custom to decorate the tables of Royal Families. In the modern kitchen, it is seen as mostly an outdated form of plating embellishment or reserved for Ancient Thai cuisine restaurants or tourists demonstrations in hotel lobbies.

But there are food artists out there, bringing back the art – albeit – in non-traditional forms by using some rather unconventional fruits and vegetables.

Either way, these artists are paying homage to a skill by sharing their extraordinary pieces online. Bangkok Foodies revisits an art form that deserves appreciate in any day and age.
