Culinary Cinema Returns to Kata Rocks

          Season Three of Kata Rocks’ Culinary Cinema returns with an exciting celebration by popular demand. Seven, the 1995 American neo-noir crime thriller film directed by David Fincher, was selected by public choice, receiving the most votes on social media.

          Culinary Cinema will kick off an action-packed season of hit films starting on Friday 24 November at 6:30pm. Originally postponed due to bad weather, the first installation of Season 3 is sure to please now that the sky has cleared and high season has arrived in Phuket.

Culinary Cinema at KaTa Rocks

          Unique to Kata Rocks in Phuket, Culinary Cinema is an original way to interpret film using the senses via aroma, texture and taste. Guests receive a tray of numbered mystery boxes containing a bite-sized menu dégustation (tasting menu) custom-designed to enhance specific moments and punctuate dramatic highlights during the film.

          As the story progresses and plot line thickens, food-matched moments are signalled on a nearby screen, designating which numbered package that should be opened and enjoyed. Culinary Cinema menus are designed to represent a liberal and creative gastronomic interpretation of a prevailing emotion, environment, turn-of-phrase or overall feeling playing out on screen.

          Culinary Cinema Fun Facts: The menu is actually kept as a surprise until the evening of the event as to not ruin the experience of the Kata Rocks guests. However, the menu will feature a great variety of culinary delicacies, including cocktails and tapas, matched with the key moments on screen.

          The plot of Seven centres around two detectives, a rookie (Brad Pitt) and a veteran (Morgan Freeman), who hunt a serial killer (Kevin Spacey) that uses the seven deadly sins as his motives. Seven, based on a screenplay by Andrew Kevin Walker, was nominated for Best Film Editing at the 68th Academy Awards and grossed over US$ 327 million worldwide. It also stars Gwyneth Paltrow, John C McGinley and R Lee Ermey.
