New Japanese Fresh Wholesale Seafood Market 'Thonglor Nihon Ichiba' Opens in Thonglor Soi 13, Provides Chefs and Restaurant Owners with Low Price Fresh Seafood from Tsukiji Market.
There’s no shortage of Japanese restaurants in the upper echelon parameters of Thonglor and Ekamai, it seems only natural that Bangkok would get it’s very own, and apparently first, fresh Japanese seafood market.
The J Value Co project is supported by Trading house Jalux Inc., an affiliate of Japan Airlines Co. and Sojitz Corp. The logistics partnership allows the shipment of fresh ingredients from Tsukiji Market in Tokyo and other fresh markets around various regions of Japan to Bangkok. Seafood items are never frozen but packed in foam boxes with ice and arrive from Japanese market to Bangkok market in under 10 hours.
Thonglor Nihon Ichiba is essentially a wholesale market which opens trade to F&B business owners, professionals and chefs from 9am to 6pm and then to the public from 12pm to 6pm daily (except Tuesdays). The choices range from fresh whole seafood for professionals or even the serious foodies, plus a convenient grab-and-go station for pre-sliced and discounted packed seafood for the consumer. You can even have your oysters shucked, squid cleaned and fish sashimi-ed on the spot.
Professionals are required to apply for a gold membership card in order to receive first choice access to the freshest produce and the daily rate is subjected to market value, exchange rate and surplus stock, emulating the buying structure from the original Japanese fresh wholesale market.
They also provide dispatching and slicing of the fish and seafood, and a place to sit on the mezzanine if you really can’t wait to get it home. And it doesn’t stop at seafood, there is also a fruit and vegetable section with seasonal and all-year round produce at prices lower than your regular supermarket.
If you’re the more meaty type, you can shop at their butchery station which offer standard grade Wagyu up to premium A4 Wagyu. A perfect solution for restaurant owners requiring to fill the demands of hungry Thonglorians and Sukhumvit diners, or simply those out for a decadent meal at home or to treat house guests
