New All-You-Can-Eat Cheese Buffet at About Eatery, Asok.

Bangkok has a new cheese buffet and it’s one bargain that’s pretty hard to beat.

About Eatery introduces their Cheese Buffet every Friday and Saturday from 6:00pm – 10:00pm at 690++ THB per person!

There will be 20 different kinds of French, Italian and Spanish cheeses such as Fontina from Valle D’Aosta, Gorgonzola DOP and Taleggio DOP from Lombardy, Parmesan from Emilia Romagna, Camembert from Normandy and Manchego from La Mancha Region,.

Accompanying this extensive range of cheeses will be condiments including dried and fresh fruit, jams and honey to go with About Eatery’s specialty homemade breadsticks and varieties of freshly baked sourdough made from organic flour which are Chef Gabriele’s family pride and joy.

“I prepare three kinds of bread all made with my family sourdough, that we’ve kept alive since 2006,” says Chef Gabriele. “The flour is a mix of grindstone organic flour and an Italian high protein flour. Usually I will make kalamata olive bread, flax seed bread, pumpkin seeds bread, walnut bread or sunflower seed bread. The bread of my region, Matera,  is made of Italian semolina flour and has a curious and unique shape, it’s a very old traditional bread.“

Hungry for more ?
Sühring open their Michelin-starred doors for a Lunchtime treat

It may not be the largest selection of cheese in Bangkok but it’s plenty for any discerning foodies who choose quality over quantity, plus it provides table space for local cheese artisans to showcase their goods that locals can support.

Here are Giulio’s Cheese Buffet wine pairing tips exclusively for Bangkok Foodies:

  • 2015 Pouilly Fumé Cuvée Jules, Domaine Fouassier (Loire Valley – France) with goat’s cheese
  • 2015 Barbera del Monferrato (Piedmont – Italy) with Fontina
  • 2013 Barolo Serralunga, Principiano (Piedmont – Italy) with Parmesan
  • 2012 La Cuvée Gran Reserva Brut, Gramona (Catalonia – Spain) with Manchego and Camembert
  • In general, my favorite choice is any orange wine which can paired with many varieties of cheese.
