ATTICO at Radisson Blu

Bangkok Foodies Review – Attico

Since trendy Brunches were the new bag this seasons and for the last two years, our humble set lunches have taken a back seat at the buffet table. Sure there are same-same, mediocre lunches to fill an executive’s tummy, likely at a chain cafe or outdated hotel but Attico have really set the bar for a bargain gourmet lunch in a truly wonderful atmosphere.

A mix of classical wooden furnishings, high ceilings and a spread that Nonna could have made if she were loaded and an interior decorator. But what excites us the most is that crazy city view, settled so peacefully behind  floor to ceiling glass. Sit by the window, there won’t be much protest given the lack of diners. The air blows cool and the sunbeams caress the skin nicely.

For 650 THB++ you can indulge in a modestly sized spread of freshly prepared antipasto like salmon carpaccio, confit tuna nicoise salad, imported cold cuts, panzanella salad, and chef’s daily pizza. It’s a clear case of quality over quantity.

This also includes a main meal from the list; Eggplant Parmigiana with smoked scamorza cheese, spaghetti vongole with fresh clams, pan roasted fillet sea bass with cherry tomatoes and the homemade tagliatelle bolognese. I found the pasta excellent but the sauce too sweet. A common and heartbreaking mishap in Thailand, which is odd considering the chef is Italian, and a kind and charming one at that. Think the movie, ‘Ratatouille’.

For 750 THB ++  the above includes one of their signature desserts. I loved their Tiramisu, surprisingly delicate but hugely satisfying and very Instagram worthy.

If I were you, I wouldn’t wait long to visit. The lunch deal is temporary and one would hope Attico won’t be, with your kind support. And if you sit in just the right place, you can even spot the surreal yet beautiful tiny Oasis in the sky, adorned with palm trees and bikinis depending on how sharp your vision. You can thank me later for that.
